Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an adjunct to Dr. Ben Allen’s overall range of different therapeutic approaches based on the needs of a client. The 6 pillars of this model serve to benefit an individual by strengthening a personal sense of values and what is most important deep inside their heart, a commitment to whatever an individual states as an intention be it brief or longer-term, and the skills to stay present in whatever activity one engages in the moment. Additionally, this model helps support psychological flexibility, by allowing an individual to learn how to accept situations as they are, to take a step away and see things more realistically, and to come to know the more stable, timeless self that observes and experiences the world.
